How To Find An Old Facebook Post?
Find older posts on Facebook by using the site’s default search engine. It is understandable if you failed to notice this feature given how obscure it is within the menus. You can follow along on your computer or smartphone to find things on your timeline.
The first thing to keep in mind is that when you perform a search for “My Posts,” the search results that appear are either those that you have posted yourself or those that you have previously seen others post. To further hone the search results, you can add another keyword after this one. For instance, when we searched for “My Posts Rumi,” the following archived posts came up.
However, this is merely a very straightforward search. You need to fiddle with a few filters to further refine it. First, you might want the search results to show only the posts published by you, and to do that, go to Posts under Filters. Then click on Posts From and select You in the dropdown menu. Now, you are the author of every post that is displayed.
You can further narrow the search results by year if you still can’t find the post you’re looking for. To do that, again go to Posts under Filters, and click on Date Posted. You can select the post’s year here, and it will only display the results for that specific year.
Apart from Posts From and Date Posted, you also have the option to filter results by Recent Posts, Posts You’ve Seen, and Tagged Location. If you’re looking for a recently published post, you can select Recent Posts to narrow down the search results. If the post was published by someone else, you can try selecting Posts You’ve Seen. And lastly, you can refine the search results based on the location by selecting Tagged Location.
Does Facebook Have A Search Function For Old Posts?
Always keep in mind that not all of your posts—or even those made by your friends—will be visible if you scroll down the Facebook timeline.
You can get to see the Highlights even if you search year-by-year. To see all posts made in a specific year, click the down arrow to the right area of Highlights. Click on All Stories.
Graph Search
Surprisingly, this feature is not frequently discussed. Facebook has what is essentially a covert hack. When you search for a topic, look for your posts or add a more precise tag. On a friend’s timeline, you can similarly conduct a topic search using a keyword connected to it.
Activity Log
Look for a post in the Activity Log. You are able to find any post you have written, including any that you have hidden or that have been tagged. The Activity Log also displays all posts that include images. You can access it at Facebook.com/me/allactivity.
Qsearch
QSearch is a third-party app that enables you to choose from your older posts in search results. Put them in a link, status, or photo filter. The posts from your friends will also be visible on this app in addition to your own.
You could search not only your Timeline but also the Timelines of your friends, the groups you belong to, and the pages you follow.
Compared to the other methods, using a third-party app is quicker. All of the approaches, however, are preferable to having to scroll endlessly to find posts. Choose one of these methods to quickly find older Facebook posts without scrolling.
